LOOKING FOR A PART-TIME JOB AND NEED WEEKENDS OFF? No More Chasin' Tails Spay/Neuter Clinic in Newport News, VA is looking for a veterinary assistant to join our team. Work days are Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 7:15 am - 4:30 pm.

A minimum of 1 year experience in a veterinary hospital and ability to lift 40 lbs. is required.

Duties:

• Restraining Animals: Safely and effectively restraining animals during examinations and treatments and for surgery. 
• Administering Medications and Vaccinations: Under the direction of a veterinarian.
• Preparing for Surgeries: Ensuring surgical instruments and equipment are sterilized and ready for use. 
• Monitoring Animals: Observing animal behavior, vital signs, and overall health to identify any potential issues. 
• Education: Providing guidance to pet owners on animal care, nutrition, and health. 
• Maintaining Inventory: Ordering and stocking medical supplies and pharmaceuticals. 
• Maintenance : Clean, feed and monitor patients throughout the day and maintain a clean work environment.

Applicants must be able to accommodate a flexible schedule, have reliable transportation, be a multi-tasker, be comfortable handling stressful situations, have excellent communication skills and like to clean .
