Schedule: Monday–Friday, 3:00 PM–6:20 PM (hours may vary slightly based on program needs)
Start Date: January 2026
Position Summary:
The STEM Instructor will develop and lead engaging, project-based STEM lessons for middle school students (grades 6–8). The instructor is responsible for creating hands-on activities, fostering creativity and critical thinking, and supporting student learning in alignment with DYCD and SONYC requirements.
Responsibilities:
Plan and facilitate high-quality STEM lessons in areas such as robotics, engineering challenges, coding basics, science experiments, and technology-based projects.
- Create a safe, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment.
- Collaborate with the Program Director to align lessons with program goals and DYCD outcomes.
- Support students with inquiry-based learning, teamwork, and leadership skills.
- Ensure materials are prepared in advance and classrooms remain organized.
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development sessions, and program events.
- Uphold all Bronx House, DYCD, and DOE guidelines.
Qualifications:
- Experience working with youth, preferably middle school students.
- Background in STEM fields (science, engineering, technology, coding, robotics, etc.).
- Ability to develop lesson plans and lead hands-on, engaging activities.
- Strong classroom management and communication skills.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to collaborate with the program team.
