Position Overview

A growing industrial manufacturer is seeking a  Manager of Quality Engineering  to lead all aspects of quality assurance across its mechanical and electrical product lines. This leadership role is responsible for maintaining compliance with industry standards, managing internal and supplier audits, and driving continuous improvement throughout production operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a cross-functional team of quality engineers, inspectors, and specialists to ensure alignment with business and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee the implementation, maintenance, and improvement of the company’s Quality Management System (QMS) in compliance with AS and ISO standards.
  • Act as the primary quality liaison for customer audits, third-party assessments, and internal compliance reviews.
  • Manage supplier quality programs including vendor qualification, audit execution, and corrective action processes.
  • Drive root cause analysis (RCCA), failure investigations, and other quality initiatives to reduce defects and support production efficiency.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering, operations, supply chain, and contracts teams to ensure quality is integrated across all phases of manufacturing.
  • Track, analyze, and report quality metrics to senior leadership and stakeholders.
  • Champion a culture of quality, accountability, and continuous improvement throughout the organization.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality Management, or related technical field.
  • 10+ years of quality experience in a manufacturing environment (mechanical/electrical focus strongly preferred).
  • 3+ years in a leadership or management capacity within a quality function.
  • Strong knowledge of AS9100/ISO 9001, FAR/DFARS, and government contract requirements.
  • Skilled in FMEA, RCCA, Pareto analysis, and other root cause/quality improvement tools.
  • Excellent communication skills and proven ability to work cross-functionally.
  • Proficient in quality systems software and Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred

  • Quality certifications (CQE, CQA, Six Sigma, etc.)
  • Experience interfacing directly with defense or aerospace customers
  • Familiarity with electrical or electromechanical assemblies
