Job Description

The role

An opportunity to join the small, professional team in Print Services. The department provides scanning and printing services to both staff and students within the University, as well as to external customers. The role is to assist with print mono printing, print finishing as well as scanning, mail fulfilment and post processing. The successful candidate should have previous experience working within a digital printing environment.

What will you be doing?

  • Undertaking mono printing using the production print equipment
  • Scanning of printed material to capture a digital copy
  • Costing jobs
  • Binding of printed sheets using various methods including wiro-binding, comb binding, soft-binding, hard-binding, perfect-binding, saddle-stitching and others
  • Using other print-finishing equipment such as laminators, guillotines, creasers as required
  • Undertake basic maintenance to rectify machine faults
  • Undertaking mail-merging as well as assisting with mail fulfilment
  • Helping in the Post Room as required
  • Assisting customers - staff (at all levels), students and those external to the University, either via Teams, email or in person

You should apply if

  • You have previous experience working in a digital print environment
  • Have worked on binding systems, though training will be provided on the specific equipment
  • You can work unsupervised, manage and prioritise your own workload, use your initiative, make decisions and problem solve whenever necessary
  • You have good numeracy and literacy skills
  • You have good computer skills including experience of working with Excel
  • You have good attention to detail
  • You are flexible and willing
  • You have good communication skills and work well as part of a team

Additional information

Contract type: Open ended

Work pattern: Part time (6.75 hours per week)

Grade: D

Salary: £24,685 - £26,093 per annum pro rata

School/Unit: Campus Division
