KAW NATION POSITION DESCRIPTION
TITLE: MUSEUM DIRECTOR IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: CHAIR CONTROLLING SUPERVISOR: CHAIR Job Summary : This position is responsible for the overall daily operation and maintenance of the Kaw Nation Museum. This includes the curatorial of collection, archiving, cataloging, arrangement, and exhibits at the Kanza Museum, Kanza Health Clinic, and other tribal locations as needed. A background in Native American Plains Indians and their language is helpful but not required. Skills/Qualifications : Project Management, Research Skills, Reporting Research Results, Presentation Skills, Initiative, Dealing with Complexity and the ability to work well with Multiple Agencies. Education : Bachelor’s Degree in Native American Studies, Archeology, Anthropology, Humanities, Museology, Fine Arts, Liberal Arts or related fields, or at least three (3) years relevant experience preferred. Desire to complete educational trainings related Tribal Historic Preservation, (NAGPRA, NEPA) which include working with Chilocco Indian School Cemetery and Tribal property’s, museum procedures and historic preservation needs for the Kaw Nation.
