Key Responsibilities
Customer Experience & Operations
- Ensure exceptional customer service and merchandising standards
- Step in to support any department during training or busy periods
- Lead by example during peak seasons and weekends
- Maintain store appearance, cleanliness, and safety standards
Team Leadership & Development
- Hire, train, and develop staff members
- Manage performance, promotions, and career development
- Create a positive, safe working environment
- Handle HR functions including discipline and compensation decisions
Financial & Inventory Management
- Monitor and achieve budget targets for revenue, margins, and profit
- Oversee receiving, selection, quality control, and care of all merchandise
- Manage inventory levels and plant care standards
Strategic Planning
- Collaborate with Retail Director on store improvements
- Research, plan, and execute approved initiatives
- Contribute ideas for enhancing operations and customer experience
Required Qualifications
- 3-5 years of retail management experience, preferably 2+ years in garden center, nursery, or landscaping
- Comprehensive knowledge of plants and horticultural care practices
- Technological competency to operate scheduling, performance, and inventory software systems
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Physical ability to lift 50+ pounds regularly and push/pull up to 200 pounds
Work Schedule and Environment
- This position is located at our Lake Oswego garden center.
- Hours of operation are 9am-6pm, 7 days a week
- Primarily outdoor work environment (not climate controlled)
- Physically demanding role requiring stamina and weather resilience
Benefits & Pay Range
- $60,000-70,000 annual salary, dependent upon experience
