Food Service Worker Location Oswego, NY :
- The Server is responsible for always providing prompt food and beverage service in a welcoming and friendly attitude. Enthusiastically greet guests and politely notify them if there is a wait.
- Responsibilities include all aspects of meal service including cleaning in the kitchen and other work areas, washing dishes, pots or pans, utensils, emptying trash, mopping floors, etc. while contributing to a teamwork-based work environment.
- Learn the menu to explain offerings, make recommendations and suggestively sell to customers.
- Provide each guest with a friendly welcome and a memorable farewell to ensure a positive, memorable visit and to promote repeat visits. Provide remarkable customer service to all patrons. Address concerns and inform Manager.
- Suggestively sell products and let customers know about current specials and promotions
- Ensure customer's orders are recorded accurately
- Check back with guests, solicit feedback
- Prepare and assemble food items according to menu or specialty item, while following all federal, state, and local regulations as they pertain to the work
- Store food appropriately while following all food handling and food safety procedures
- Setup and breakdown all workstations as needed
- Replenish supplies as needed and notify manager if inventory is low or in need of resupply
- Perform closing duties while completing other tasks simultaneously
- Ensure the highest quality preparation and presentation of food and beverage items delivered to customers
- Responsible for attention and prompt response to customer's needs and requests throughout their entire visit
- Accept cash and credit payments through use of POS system
- Report all tips in compliance with company policy and IRS regulations
- Consistent professional and positive attitude and actions when communicating with guests and team members
- Answer the phone and assist with answering questions in a friendly, courteous manor
- Assist team members at other stations as needed
- 1 year food service experience recommended (2 year preferred)
Job Qualifications:
- Must be 18 years of age
- High School Diploma / GED Equivalent / Successful completion of Money Math & Baker's Math Aptitude test
- 1 year minimum food experience (2 year customer service)
- Ability to understand and provide friendly customer service
- High energy and a desire to help where needed and work as part of a team
- Ability to understand and comply with proper food handling and serving techniques and with federal, state and local serving regulations
- Ability to safely use common kitchen tools and equipment to prepare foods including sharp knives
- Ability to process cash handling in compliance with policies and procedures
- Ability to operate a computer, calculator, and phone
- Attention to details with good organizational and efficient time management skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, sometimes under pressure, while remaining flexible and efficient.
Working Conditions:
- Well-lighted work areas, stand and walk short distances most of the day, subject to cold and hot temperatures in kitchens, storage rooms, and walk-in freezers. Use of sharp knives to prepare food is common.
Personal Requirements:
- This position requires regular attendance; requires the ability to stand or walk for hours at a time; frequently required to hear, speak, walk, crawl, climb, stand, reach, bend, balance, kneel, stoop, lift and carry items up to 50 lbs; requires ability to tolerate significant changes in temperature, and frequent immersion of hands in water and cleaning or sanitizing solutions. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
- Ability to read, write, speak English.
- Ability to follow directions and work in close cooperation with other co-workers.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: From $15.50 per hour
Expected hours: No more than 25 per week
