- The Abstractor reviews inpatient and outpatient medical records, abstracts data into the Cerner system, ensuring accuracy of discharge disposition, admission orders, and other details, collaborating with coding and compliance teams.
- Requires a high school diploma and prior HIM experience, with preferred coding course completion.
- Must demonstrate strong computer skills, excellent communication, and analytical abilities to interpret medical data and assign appropriate codes, with knowledge of ICD-10 systems.
- Preferred certifications include AHIMA CCS or AAPC COC/CPC.
