Job Description

Position Summary

The Barista is responsible for preparing and serving coffee, espresso-based beverages, and other café offerings with efficiency, warmth, and precision. This role combines hospitality, attention to detail, and product knowledge to deliver an exceptional guest experience consistent with the brand’s standards.

Key Responsibilities Guest Experience
  • Greet guests warmly and engage with professionalism, hospitality, and a sense of urgency.

  • Accurately take and prepare guest orders according to recipes and presentation standards.

  • Ensure all drinks and food items are delivered promptly, at the correct temperature and quality.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and visually appealing service area throughout the shift.

  • Anticipate guest needs — refill water, offer to-go lids, and check in proactively.

Product Knowledge & Execution
  • Master the preparation of all menu items including espresso, drip coffee, teas, and specialty drinks.

  • Calibrate and maintain espresso machines, grinders, and brewing equipment daily.

  • Follow all recipes, portion standards, and presentation guidelines consistently.

  • Support new menu rollouts, seasonal drink updates, and coffee education initiatives.

  • Maintain product freshness and quality control throughout service.

Operations & Cleanliness
  • Keep the bar, espresso station, and prep areas stocked, sanitized, and organized.

  • Perform opening, mid-shift, and closing duties per the daily checklist.

  • Follow health and safety regulations in accordance with local, state, and company standards.

  • Assist in maintaining accurate inventory and communicating supply needs to management.

Teamwork & Communication
  • Collaborate with fellow baristas, managers, and kitchen staff to ensure smooth service flow.

  • Communicate clearly and positively with all team members.

  • Support and uphold brand values, aesthetic, and guest service culture.

  • Participate in training and contribute to a positive, growth-minded workplace environment.

Qualifications
  • Prior barista or café experience preferred; hospitality background strongly valued.

  • Passion for coffee, hospitality, and creating memorable guest moments.

  • Strong multitasking, time management, and communication skills.

  • Able to work calmly under pressure in a fast-paced setting.

  • Availability for mornings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Physical Requirements
  • Able to stand and walk for extended periods.

  • Lift and carry up to 30 lbs.

  • Repetitive motion involved in grinding, tamping, steaming milk, and pouring.
