Job Description
About Credit Key As the leading provider of flexible, buy now pay later payments for B2B transactions, hundreds of organizations rely on Credit Key to offer their business customers greater access to capital, faster approvals, and extended payment terms using embedded financing. Our mission is to deliver a superior payment experience at B2B point-of-purchase — and we can’t do it without top tier talent.
Who We Are
We’re a small, experienced, and collaborative team of developers who value learning, experimentation, and developer happiness. No death marches. No endless crunch. No after-hours firefighting (unless it’s genuinely fun). We plan thoughtfully, prioritize ruthlessly, and iterate quickly to find what works.
Who You Are
You thrive at the intersection of building, running, and improving complex systems. You balance pragmatism with craft, and you take pride in leaving code, services, and architecture better than you found them. You’re comfortable with:
Translating business requirements into maintainable, scalable code
Owning services end-to-end, from design to deployment to monitoring and iteration
Experimenting, learning, and iterating to improve systems over time
Making architecture decisions and documenting design choices
Reviewing code and providing constructive feedback
You also have experience managing production services, deploying infrastructure with Terraform, and maintaining operational health in cloud environments.
What You'll Do
As a Backend Engineer at Credit Key, you’ll:
Design and implement backend systems, APIs, and features
Own services end-to-end, including deployment, monitoring, and scaling
Contribute to architecture discussions and design documentation
Collaborate with product, engineering, and operations teams to define realistic MVPs and iteratively build solutions
Share knowledge and help raise the quality bar across the team
You’ll bring your experience to guide best practices while flexing your expertise in specific areas of the platform. We value engineers who combine technical rigor with practical judgment: knowing when to innovate, when to iterate, and when to optimize for maintainability.
