Assistant Golf Course Superintendent
Golf Course in Matthews, North Carolina is looking for an Assistant Golf Course Superintendent.
Position Overview:
Work alongside and report directly to the Golf Course Superintendent. The Assistant Superintendent plays a critical role in managing cool-season putting surfaces in a warm-season environment while maintaining top-level daily course conditioning. He or She will oversee, direct, and participate in daily maintenance of the golf course tees, greens, fairways, rough, bunkers, and cart paths. This individual will also supervise the maintenance and repair of motorized and other mechanical equipment; and does related work as required.
Essential Responsibilities:
• Manage, train, and direct a staff of 15-20+.
• Cool-season putting surface management.
• Tournament golf setup.
• Oversee staff and H2B workers throughout the workday.
• Record keeping, logging, and weather monitoring.
• Irrigation repair and installation.
• Tree pruning and removal.
• Work every third weekend or as needed for greens management, tournaments, and events.
Requirements:
2-4 Year Turf Certificate/Degree is preferred, but candidates with strong experience will be considered.
Candidate must have good communication skills and a strong work ethic.
Must be a team player and looking to grow in the turf industry.
Cool-season putting green experience in the transition zone is a plus.
Spanish speaking ability is a plus.
Must be able to obtain an NC Pesticide License within 90 days.
Compensation:
$50,000 – $55,000 per year.
